Don't spend lifetimes building Bridges -
They'll be broken before dawn,
Shattered into smiling pieces,
And the world will seem withdrawn.
Don't mistake things for a beauty
When they're ugly and unreal,
Don't attach yourselves to people
Who can't let on to how they feel.
Don't bite into juicy apples
When you know they just aren't ripe,
Keep a hand in your back pocket
If you know there's tears to wipe.
Don't believe each word that echoes,
Pick and choose to what you hear.
Don't let traitors think you trust them;
Don't let strangers call you dear.
Don't spend lifetimes building Bridges -
They'll be broken before dawn,
Then each day with play a satire.
Soon each bridge will just be gone.
